(Bainbridge, IN) The Truk
Wurks Off Road monster truck team have announced that their Bar’s Leaks
Eliminator and Rislone Defender monster trucks will be attending the 2011
O’Reillys National Sales Convention. “To say we’re excited is an
understatement.” said Eliminator driver Greg Adams. “Everyone here at Truk
Wurks Offroad is thrilled to have the opportunity to represent Bar’s
Products at one of the largest automotive sales convention.” he explained.
Teammate and son of Greg Adams, Zach was also very excited in anticipation
for the trip to Nashville. “The opportunity to take a short break from
racing and spend some time with the fans and get to showcase Bar’s Products
is a great honor.” said 2nd year driver Zach Adams.

(Pontiac, MI) The Truk Wurks
Off Road team came into Pontiac looking to put both the Bars Leaks
Eliminator and Rislone Defender deep into the racing brackets and bring the
fans to their feet with stellar freestyle performances.
Greg and Zach would have a difficult task at hand facing some of the top
teams in the country including Hall Brothers Racing, 2Extreme Racing and two
time Monster Nationals Racing Champion Tailgator. “We knew how difficult it
would be to advance through the brackets in racing right from the start.”
Said Bars Leaks Eliminator Driver Greg Adams. “There are a lot of past
champions and drivers with a lot of experience here, but we’re not going to
back down from anyone”
Unfortunately, Zach Adams and the Rislone Defender would lose a started on
the line of his first race and would not be able to continue until
freestyle. “It was a really tough break, we had just put in a new starter
right before the show” Said Rislone Defender Driver Zach Adams. With the
Rislone Defender out of the racing bracket for the night, the Bars Leaks
Eliminator and Greg Adams were left with the pressure of carrying the Truk
Wurks name through the brackets in Pontiac.
The Bars Leaks Eliminator would handly defeat Shell Camino and take out
3-time Thunder Nationals Champion Diehl Wilson in Virginia Giant. The first
two wins would pit Adams against Doug Neolke in Tailgator in the
semi-finals. Neolke and the Tailgator would prove to be just a bit too much
as the Gator edged off Adams in the Bars Leaks Eliminator to advance to the
finals.
Freestyle kicked off with Zach Adams in the Rislone Defender pulling one of
the highlight moves of the night with a huge slap wheelie across the floor
of the Silverdome. “I felt the truck start to bounce back and forth, that’s
when I knew I should probably set her down!” said Adams. Greg Adams also put
down a stellar run for the thousands of fans in attendance. Adams piloted
the Bars Leaks Eliminator to huge air and plenty of momentum.
(Bainbridge, IN) The Truk Wurks Off Road team and their Bar’s Leaks Eliminator and Rislone Defender monster trucks have been on a tear since the 2010 indoor monster truck racing season began in January, picking up wins and thrilling fans across the country. After a strong start to the first quarter of competition, there would be no “halftime” before the second-half of the indoor season kicked into high gear.
With a strong showing in Cedar Rapids, IA behind them, the team headed for one of the wildest indoor shows of their season, in Tulsa, OK. The Tulsa event pays extra cash to each driver for every round of racing won, and with a few extra thousand dollars up for grabs, the teams invited to this event always step it up. The track was a “banzai” track…a long run on dirt to a set of cars with no ramps. High speeds plus an iron wall of cars equals two things in monster truck racing: big air, and serious carnage.
Greg Adams in the Bar’s Leaks Eliminator enjoyed good draws all weekend long in the pairings, which helped contribute to him winning one of the four events held over the course of three days. By the time Sunday’s final round of eliminations came to the line, Adams was tied with the legendary Bigfoot for first place, and as fate would have it the two of them would face off for final bragging rights and the top monetary prize of the weekend.
The light turned green and both drivers used all available throttle, allowing their machines to accelerate into the cars and up into the air as quickly as possible. Chris Ludwig in Bigfoot would be the first across the finish line, but Adams’ run would undoubtedly stand out the most in the minds of fans after the race. Adams’ Eliminator machine would develop a nose-high attitude while in the air, resulting in a wild ride and a slew of broken parts en route to a rollover upon landing.
“I tried to save it, but after the truck headed for the out-of-bounds line, the safety officials shut me down just to be cautious. We had a lot of stuff broken by then anyways, so either way you cut it we were going to be in for a lot of work. I was pretty pleased with second place though!”
Greg’s son Zach Adams in the Rislone Defender didn’t fare quite so well over the course of the weekend, as he consistently found himself matched up against higher-powered trucks and/or more senior drivers with a tick more experience than the relative newcomer, now in his sophomore year of driving. Although Zach struggled some in racing, he quickly performed double-duty as his dad’s crew chief, helping put at least one of the team’s trucks in constant contention for the win.
With considerable damage done to the Eliminator truck, including frame and rear axle housing damage, the team rushed the wounded machine back to the Truk Wurks shop in central Indiana to allow for maximum repair time. The team would have little breathing room, however, as they would have to get right back on the road almost immediately to make the 900+ mile drive down to Beaumont, TX for their final stop on the Monster Nation tour.
The Eliminator was originally scheduled to compete at the event with Defender as a backup, but those plans would now be thrown out the window due to the previous weekend’s wreck. So in lieu of that, Zach Adams would carry the team’s colors into Beaumont.
The Adams’ rash of bad luck would continue in Beaumont, where it seemed like mechanical gremlins would persist all weekend long. Zach would break a driveshaft yoke during Friday’s event, a hydraulic steering ram on Saturday, and a wheel hub on Sunday during freestyle. The team’s innovative WRS (Wheel Restraint System) did its job, however, keeping the damage wheel flange, wheel, and tire a part of the truck and not letting it escape to do damage to the venue or other parked trucks.
Both trucks would be fully repaired and sorted out for the following weekend’s event in Jonesboro, AR. Greg in the Eliminator would lose a close race in the finals of eliminations on a slippery Chicago-style race course, while Zach in the Defender would awe everyone in attendance with a perfect walking-wheelie across the cars during the opening wheelie contest.
Their tour of destruction would continue the next weekend in Fayetteville, NC where both trucks continued to run strong, with Greg in the Eliminator sweeping both nights of wheelie contest competition.
Fort Wayne, IN would play home to the team’s next event, and being only a few hours from home it was a welcome break from the hectic driving schedule the team had been holding too. The weekend would be hugely successful for both trucks, as Greg in the Eliminator would take the wheelie contest win both nights. Zach Adams in the Defender would appear in the final round of racing each night, loosing Saturday night to his pops in the Eliminator, making for yet another Bar’s Leaks/Rislone finals.
The team would enjoy their “hometown” show in Terre Haute, IN the following weekend. Greg Adams was quick to note that the short hour-long drive to the arena was his favorite trip of the year thus far. The teams in attendance struggled to get ahold of the slick arena concrete floor all night long, as a rookie event staff had utilized too much “traction compound” on the floor, thus eliminating all traction and instead turning the place into a veritable ice rink. Despite this, both Truk Wurks trucks easily laid down the best freestyle performances of the night.
Greg Adams in the Eliminator would pick up yet another racing victory over Zach Adams in the Defender a week later in Dubuqe, IA, wrapping up the indoor racing season on a high note.
The team would quickly hustle back to Indiana to prepare the trucks for their debut on SpikeTV’s Powerblock, one of the most popular automotive series’ on TV today. Upon arriving at the set in Franklin, TN, both trucks were ushered into the Powerblock studio, where they all but dominated the normally spacious filming area. In mid-May, fans were able to watch Greg, Zach, and their trucks stand tall on Powerblock, representing their Truk Wurks team, Bar’s Leaks, and Rislone as well as anyone could ask.
With their first quarter of events in the books, the team has spent much of the spring reorganizing, making changes and adjustments to the trucks, and preparing for the whirlwind of action that the summertime always brings. Stay tuned to the Truk Wurks website for more updates as the summer progresses!
(Bainbridge, IN) The Truk Wurks Off Road monster truck team has announced that their Bar’s Leaks Eliminator and Rislone Defender monster trucks, along with the father/son driving team of Greg and Zach Adams will be appearing this weekend on Spike TV’s “Powerblock” program!
“We had a great time filming the Powerblock segment,” said Eliminator driver Greg Adams. “We’ve been running hard this year, and definitely tearing up our share of parts, so it was a nice break to be able to hang out and keep the trucks shiny and clean!” he said with a laugh.
Greg’s son Zach, was equally excited: “Whenever we are home or at a hotel, we definitely tune in to SpikeTV’s Powerblock.” He added that “It definitely was an honor to be invited to appear on the show, to represent both our team and our sponsors. We’ve worked hard over the last couple of years to get our team where it needs to be, and a gig like this definitely tells me we’ve been doing something right.”
Needless to say, the team was excited when the request to appear on the hit automotive series, one of the most popular features on the Spike TV channel. “There have been some amazing motorsports and automotive vehicles and personalities featured on Powerblock in the past,” said Greg Adams. “Not many monster trucks have been invited to grace the studios there, so for us and the industry this is a pretty big honor. We’re definitely excited to be bringing our Bar’s Leaks and Rislone monsters to show off to the world!”
The folks at Powerblock are pretty excited too it would seem, evidence of this being their recent post on the Powerblock Blog . Fans can check their local listings to find airtimes for Powerblock featuring the Truk Wurks monsters. The episode featuring the trucks will air this Saturday and Sunday, May 15th & 16th.
(Bainbridge, IN) Truk Wurks Off Road would like to welcome their newest sponsors for 2010, Spies Hecker automotive finishes, and NGK Spark Plugs!
“We are very happy to add both of these fine companies to our growing list of associate sponsors,” said Truk Wurks General Manager Greg Adams. “Our Bar’s Leaks Eliminator and Rislone Defender monster trucks are growing in popularity, and I’m thrilled to report that great companies like Spies Hecker and NGK are seeing the value in working with our team.”
With over 125 years of experience, Spies Hecker is one of the largest suppliers of refinishing materials and regarded as a benchmark in vehicle refinishing - a true global player with 12 subsidiaries, over 40 importers present in 62 countries around the world. “Although our trucks use vinyl wraps to cover the majority of their body work, I still choose to airbrush by hand the headlight and taillight graphics,” said Adams. “We also plan on running some special one-off paint schemes that will proudly feature Spies Hecker finishes. We even used nearly four gallons of Spies Hecker finishes to repaint our semi tractor that hauls our race trailer, and it is still looking great tens of thousands of miles later.”
When it comes to spark plugs, NGK is the World Leader. Makers of spark plugs for virtually every automotive, motorcycle, marine and small engine application, NGK dominates. Starting with a single product in 1936, NGK's extraordinary growth can be attributed to a philosophy of manufacturing the product where it is going to be used. For years, NGK has been the top choice of engine builders, mechanics, and drivers in the monster truck industry, and the Truk Wurks team is no exception. The 540ci Jim Oddy-built motor in the Eliminator and the Bill Reichert-built 514ci powerplant in the Defender both count on NGK Plugs to produce the power that the drivers and fans demand.
(Bainbridge, IN) The Truk Wurks Off Road monster truck team has announced that their Bar’s Leaks Eliminator monster truck and driver Greg Adams will soon be filming a segment for Spike TV’s “Powerblock” program! The team will soon be spit-shining the entire truck for the shoot, including the mounting of a brand-new F-150 body, complete with fresh vinyl wrap!
“2010 has been as busy as ever for us,” said Eliminator driver Greg Adams. “Our race schedule has been pretty intense and we’ve been running the trucks quite hard. I actually rolled my truck at an event in Oklahoma, and despite the fact that we repaired the body we really wanted to pull out all the stops for Powerblock, so that’s why we are rolling out a brand new, fresh body,” he explained.
Needless to say, the team was excited when the request to appear on the hit automotive series, one of the most popular features on the Spike TV channel. “There have been some amazing motorsports and automotive vehicles and personalities featured on Powerblock in the past,” said Adams. “Not many monster trucks have been invited to grace the studios there, so for us and the industry this is a pretty big honor. We’re definitely excited to be bringing our Bar’s Leaks monster to show off to the world!”
Stay tuned for more information on the air date of the segment, as well as exclusive photos!
(Bainbridge, IN) The Truk Wurks Off Road team and their Bar’s Leaks Eliminator and Rislone Defender monster trucks have been on a tear since the 2010 indoor monster truck racing season began in January, picking up wins and thrilling fans across the country.
The father-son team of Greg and Zach Adams (driving the Eliminator and Defender monster trucks, respectively) kicked off their 2010 season at the Kicker Livin’ Loud Monster Truck Nationals in Guthrie, OK. Both trucks turned in respectable freestyle performances during the two-day event, with the high point of the weekend being Greg Adams’ appearance in the finals against Rodney Tweedy in the legendary Bigfoot on the huge Chicago-style track. Although the elder Adams would be edged out by Tweedy in Bigfoot, the strong showing of both trucks had the team in high hopes for the new season.

It would not take long for the Truk Wurks team to put their Bar’s Leaks and Rislone machines in victory lane…about one week’s time, in fact. Following Guthrie, the team migrated to Lake Charles, LA, where they absolutely dominated the competition. Greg Adams in the Eliminator would take the wheelie contest win both days, in addition to picking up a racing win over his son during the Saturday night event. Young Zach Adams, living up to his 2009 Rookie of the Year status, picked up his first event win in racing behind the wheel of the Defender Friday night in Lake Charles, beating his father in the finals. Zach would also reach the finals of the Saturday event, narrowly losing to his father.
From Lake Charles it was on to Monroe, LA for even more monster truck action. Solid freestyle and racing performances from each truck would help net Greg Adams a win in monster truck freestyle during the Saturday night event.
Heading back into the heart of the Midwest, Greg and Zach hit the track next in Lebanon, MO. In a non-racing format, the team competed in six rounds of monster truck freestyle and wheelie contest action. By the time the dust had settled, Greg in the Eliminator had captured four freestyle wins and a wheelie contest win, making him the winning-est driver of the weekend. Zach Adams would add to his growing resume by picking up a freestyle win of his own, leaving only one freestyle competition not claimed by the Truk Wurks team.
The North Charleston Civic Center Arena in Charleston, SC would be the next destination for the team, and their first stop on the Monster Nation 2010 Pedal To The Metal Tour. Although the Zach and the Defender machine would struggle with electrical issues all weekend long, Greg and the Eliminator would pin down a wheelie contest win during the Friday night event, and would narrowly loose the wheelie contest during the Saturday event after a controversial decision by the judges.
After a few long days of driving (with a quick re-supply stop at their shop in Indiana) the Greg and Zach would compete next in Cedar Rapids, IA. The team would have their mechanical woes sorted out and would be back to their winning ways, with Greg and the Eliminator winning racing both nights, in addition to picking up a freestyle win during the first night of competition. Zach in the Defender would represent himself well also, taking a runner-up in racing in the first night of competition.
At that point, with thousands of miles travelled, thousands of fans thrilled, and hundreds of cars already crushed, the season was still far from over. Stay tuned for Part II of the Truk Wurks 2010 First Quarter Recap, coming soon!
(St. Louis, MO) Bar’s Leaks/Rislone monster truck drivers Greg and Zach Adams took home their share of hardware this past weekend in St. Louis at the Monster Truck Racing Association’s annual awards banquet.
The father and son duo made big waves in the monster truck industry in 2009 by stepping up their game considerably, and that earned their Truk Wurks team the 2009 Most Improved Team award. While the elder Adams was a rookie in the organization 21 years ago, young Zach Adams enjoyed a successful rookie season in 2009, capped off with the MTRA’s Rookie Of The Year honors.
“I’m very proud of our team, and it definitely means a lot to bring home these two awards,” said Greg Adams, Bar’s Leaks Eliminator driver and Truk Wurks general manager. “We went from a very spartan one-truck team to a full-blown two truck operation. With the help of Bar’s Leaks and Rislone we’ve not only done that, but we’ve upgraded to a fully vinyl-wrapped 18-wheeler transporter, and moved our team and off-road shop into a new, state-of-the-art facility.” While the nuts and bolts improvement to the operation are easily visible, the team’s performance behind the scenes and off the track aren’t as readily seen.
“Saying that we ‘put in a great deal of time’ working on the new Rislone Defender monster truck is putting it nicely,” explained Defender driver and Truk Wurks owner Zach Adams. “The truth is we had to work our butts off just about every night we weren’t at an event to get the truck finished in time for the outdoor season. It definitely took its toll on us, but when the truck finally drove out on the track for the first time in May, it was a total relief.”
When the Defender did debut, fans and members of the Truk Wurks team knew immediately that Zach had the skills behind the wheel to make a name for himself, and the Rislone Defender. After steadily improving over the course of the summer, and despite the normal teething problems experienced with an all-new truck, Zach saw his first-year driving career peak in Albany, NY during his first-ever indoor arena show. Zach piloted his Rislone machine to the final round of racing both nights, loosing out narrowly to veteran driver Rick Long in Bigfoot. Along the way, Zach managed to defeat his father in the semi-finals of racing each night, and nearly experienced his first rollover during a hair-raising wheelie contest effort.
“I’m very proud of Zach,” said Greg Adams. “Learning to drive a monster truck back when I started was a bit easier than it is today. It may have been a bit more punishing physically, but the trucks just weren’t doing the kinds of things we ask them to these days.” He added that “Zach really stepped up in a high-pressure situation and made it look easy. I definitely didn’t cut him any slack, and for many shows we had no crew other than he and I, so he earned every bit of that award.”
So while the Truk Wurks team may have won the Most Improved Team award for 2009, that doesn’t mean they are planning on slowing down any. “We are looking forward to a very busy 2010 schedule,” said Zach Adams. “We’ve changed a few things around on the trucks, made some improvements here and there, and best of all I’m not a rookie anymore!” His father echoes those sentiments: “Getting this team built up to what it is today was the hard part. I think with that behind us, we’ll have a lot more fun and pick up even more wins in 2010. I can’t say enough about how good Bar’s Leaks and Rislone have been to us, without them we wouldn’t be anywhere close to where we are now. I can’t wait to charge into 2010 and beyond with our Bar’s Leaks and Rislone monsters!”

(Albany, NY) This past weekend at
the Kicker Livin' Loud Monster Truck Triple Crown event in Albany, NY, Rislone Defender
driver Zach Adams ripped the track up one side and down the other in two nights of intense
competition. Wait, did we mention this was Zach's first indoor event?!
With his father (Bar's Leaks Eliminator driver
Greg Adams) watching from the sidelines, Zach squared off against veteran driver Rick Long
in Bigfoot both nights (Friday and Saturday) in the racing finals, with Bigfoot taking the
narrow win each time. To get to the finals of the double-elimination bracket, Zach
defeated not only Rick Long in Bigfoot, but his father as well!
Zach's new-found indoor game wasn't limited to
strictly racing, however. As the photos show, Zach wasn't afraid to catch some air
in freestyle, nor was he afraid to do a bit of fiberglass work during the breath-taking
wheelie contest.
Congrats to Zach on a job well done at his first
indoor event ever....watch out for more in 2010!
